The community outreach programmes are aimed at enriching the lives of the disadvantaged through activities and awareness driven initiatives. Women Taking Action has seen that merging resources, experience, knowledge and programs with government departments, results in a far greater impact on poor communities than if acting independently.

UrSlam Factor is a yearly talent competition open to all inmates in Correctional Centres who have a talent in music, comedy, magic, poetry, dance or writing. A first of its kind, the entire competition was funded by Women Taking Action. The programme has been developed specifically to assist inmates in the process of rehabilitation by providing inmates with a platform to showcase their talents.

Women Taking Action is concerned about women's healthcare in poor communities with a particular emphasis on Cervical Cancer. In South Africa the lifetime risk of developing Cervical Cancer is high with the disease claiming about 3 400 women annually. The alarming reality that statistically roughly 20% of South African women have ever had Cervical Cancer testing done in their lifetime was the driving force behind Women Taking Action's decision to embark on a FREE PAP SMEAR SCREENING campaign for all poor and marginalized women.
